URBAN ACUPUNCTURE

Ponce, Puerto Rico

Ponce Acupuncture seeks to reinvigorate the Plaza del Mercado de Ponce through the creation of a pedestrian and bike friendly loop around the city. The loop contains a series of projects within a 5-minute walk of each other. These, along with shading systems create a walking culture that does not currently exist.

The city is broken down into districts such as family, food, culture, and recreation based on the activities, demographics, and current businesses in each area to guide in the programming of each intervention. The chosen programs are to serve as models of what could be and will allow the city to build upon the loop.
